The South Africa MP Node successfully won a competitive international bid to host the World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF)’s 20th World Conference in 2007.

The Conference will be held from Monday 5 to Thursday 8 November 2007 at the University Of Cape Town Graduate School Of Business, located in the beautiful Cape Town Waterfront in South Africa.

The conference can accommodate up to 70 delegates.  Registration will therefore close after the first 70 registrations have been confirmed. Conference delegates are expected to include experts, academics, researchers, policy- and decision makers, and practitioners who are interested in futures research and relating it to both the public and private domains. Members of the WFSF chapters, the Millennium Project’s global nodes, and other stakeholders from the African continent, Diaspora and beyond will be invited to participate.
Conference Theme

The theme for the Conference will be “Using Futures Study to improve the human condition.”¹

The topical sub-themes are:

  • Growth
  • Ecology
  • Society and Ethnocentrism
  • Systems and efficiency of government & governance in the public and private sectors

Conference Cost

The all-inclusive cost for the conference is US$695.  This includes accommodation at the Breakwater Lodge right next to the Conference venue, 3 meals per day, and all sessions of the Conference. Travel costs to Cape Town are not included.

Delegates who wish to stay elsewhere and make their own accommodation arrangements, can register for the conference at a rate of US$500, but are then responsible for their own accommodation arrangements and costs.
Delegates who present papers will qualify for a partial discount on the registration fee.
